Frequently Asked Questions

How should I brew my order?

Personal taste mostly. We have been making a lot of pour overs recently but aeropress and french press both stake strong claims. If you want our opinion on how the brewing method affects coffee, head over to our  brewing guides.

Do you have decaf?

Sometimes. All our coffees are seasonal and the way we stock is based on freshness in order to deliver a quality product. If the decaf we like is on point and in-season, we will absolutely roast it up fresh for you.

Do you do free trials?

Not officially. However, we often ship samples in 2 oz bags as a surprise with orders when we are excited about a new coffee or sometimes just as a "thank you"

When will my coffee ship?

We work Monday through Saturday on fulfillment and are available to contact anytime through e-mail. Monday through Saturday all orders will be roasted to order and shipped within 24 hours.

How do you ship?

Typically USPS, which has a 1-5 day estimated arrival. If we use an alternative shipping method it will never be at the expense of time.

What form of payment?

Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, Discover, Apple Pay and Paypal.

Is shipping included?

Yes. You can choose to pay for expedited shipping if requested whereas price is calculated at the time of checkout. Sign up for our e-mail if you want a heads up on secret promo codes and upcoming coffee releases.

Do you ship to my country?

Right now only US based customers. We're actively trying to expand to other countries as we grow.

Do I get a receipt for my purchase?

Receipts will be automatically e-mailed to you at the time of purchase.

If I sign up for your e-mail list, are you going to spam me?

Short answer: "no", long answer: the answer's still no, absolutely and unequivocally no. We value our customers and are flattered if they return the sentiment. What we do like to send are freebies, news of upcoming seasonal coffees and tips for best enjoying our coffee.

How should I store my coffee?

We offer coffee at the peak of freshness directly from our roasters. We're not telling you how to live your life but would highly recommend you consume your coffee within 3 weeks of arrival. In the meantime store in cool, dry, dark places. Original packaging is best but any airtight container will do.

Does storing coffee in the refrigerator extend its life?

In our experience, no. The moisture in the refrigerator or freezer tends to have a negative impact on flavor.

Should I keep my coffee as beans or pre-grind it?

Ground coffee loses its freshness significantly faster than the whole roasted bean. For the best experience grind immediately prior to brewing. Our take on grinding methods.

Why the name Darwin's Coffee?

An homage to Charles Darwin, his naturalist roots as an explorer and thinker serve up the daily motivation to stay curious and open minded about status quo.
