The Community Coffee program with Coopetarrazu has made a real impact on the communities that deliver cherry to this mill. This program allows sorting coffee by quality and recognizing specific communities that produce the best harvest. Those communities are then able to recieve a premium for their coffee resulting in continual growth in quality of harvest and producer happiness. Those premiums have been used to build local infrastructure, water supplies and improve local education directly. This program provides continuous motivation for quality, and we are very excited to see what the future holds.
Leon Cortes Tarrzu
Tarrzu accounts for 35% of the total coffee production in Costa Rica. The altitudes produce some of the most unique tasting notes available. Due to the onset of new cooperatives that favor the producer, Tarrazu is now a part of the most impressive advancements in coffee processing in the country, and the result, amazing coffees.
